GET BACK TO THE BASICS

Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation
'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable... We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and set us free. Amen!'

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we once again can be called 'One nation under God!'

Wow! That really drives home what our problem, as a nation, is. Could it really be that simple? Could we change the environment around us, just by lining up to the word of God? Yes, Yes, Yes! No one man can change this nation. No political party can reshape the torn landscape of our society. We need to get back to the basics. The following scriptures help us explore where to turn for answers. On this day of  the 9/11 remembrance, and the year of an election for Presidency; let us look to the ultimate source for our wisdom.
"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe."
Hebrews 1:1-2
"I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."
Words of Jesus Christ in John 6:35

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Words of Jesus Christ in John 8:12

"You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins."

Words of Jesus Christ in John 8:23-24

"When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me."

Words of Jesus Christ in John 8:28

"While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

Words of Jesus Christ in John 9:5

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;  and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

Words of Jesus Christ in John 11:25-26

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well.
Notice that the last scripture states that Jesus is"the way", not a way, or an alternate way. He is "the" way, and as soon as we realize our nation is in need of divine intervention, then He will be able to heal our land. Let Rev. Grahams prayer be ours, and let our lives be patterned after God.
DEAR GOD HEAL OUR LAND!
